Updating, finally. (Breaking away from RP a while, just for you on my f-list)

Managed to check up on a few of you too, yaaay...

Firstly, to sum up a few things, I've changed my working hours to Friday through Sunday, because the colder weather's coming back. Also, my dad's been needing my help to take care of him.

A while go, earlier this month, he had to go through surgery to get his kidney stones removed. He also lost his balance and fell down the stairs, fracturing his neck. He has to wear a neck brace for 6 to 8 weeks. He's hanging in there. Sometimes he has trouble moving around in the house, so someone needs to be there to help navigate him.

I've been sucked back into the roleplay writing. It's why I have not updated for some weeks. Oops... I definitely felt inspired to revive an ancient old muse after watching all of the series Kyle XY, this show I still really like that aired on the ABC Family channel. It ended at a horrible cliffhanger at the end of season 3 and was cancelled, but I still missed watching it!

My music I suppose is on slowiatus now, since I've been occupied and very motivated to do more RP with others around Twitter and Dreamwidth.

Now to share something I've taken a good deal of interest in... I don't believe I mentioned this on my blog yet, about befriending the wild crows nearby where I work. After doing a routine at least once to twice a week for three weeks, they began to remember me as their neighbor human friend.

Before I even started, I did a bunch of online research first, before leaving anything out in the open for them. Even before that, I re-watched the cool documentary about some researchers who tested the ability of how crows communicate to one another, and being able to remember things for at least as long as two years. The corvid species of birds in particular are what I find to be amazing. They're so alike to us; their diet, their social behavior, using tools to solve their problems...

Yes, crows are noisy, but some people can be too! In fact, I don't mind their caws.

Upon deciding what to feed them, I gave them a variety of things. I knew there was a bag of sunflower seeds in a wooden container in my shop. I've cleaned the salt of some and put them in a jar to carry with me outside. There's a wide grassy field behind my shop, so I've been leaving the seeds and some other foods over there; chunks of bread, clean water, and pieces of fruit. Sometimes, I'd gather a small number of the shiniest pennies out of my coin box and leave them out for them to find. They like shiny stuff.

Sometimes I'd leave the water in the Glad container out for a couple of days. As I've been sharing food with them, they've considered sharing some of their snacks with me. Although I don't eat dead bugs, but hey it's the thought that counts, right? (Also, like us, the crows leave gifts for each other as well as the humans they see as good ones.)

When I came back one Friday after I started to work 3 days a week instead of 5, as soon as some of them saw me, the flew up and perched in the really big tree way across the parking lot and behind the other vendors. They cawed down at me. Like, "Hello, there you are!" "Where have you been?!"

Last Friday, I couldn't be at work because my dad wasn't feeling well. One of the nice vendors who knows of me feeding the crows mentioned that one of them was perched in one of the big trees closest to my shop, making some whooping sounds. They were wondering where I was.

There was also a time in which customer traffic was so slow that I took a nap. There was murder of crows not real far away, making a bunch of noise. I woke up and went out to investigate. They were flying around the trees and cawing. I believe they were saying their thanks for leaving out some bread. It's not just the seeds that they like the most, but also the bread.

Twice, not long after I started leaving food for them, I noticed them hanging out around my shop before I arrive to open the building. The first time, when I got close, they flew away. On the second time, at least one of them stayed close by as I walked past it to go unlock the front door of my shop. When I turned around, it flew away.

They like me, but they mostly keep their distance, which I don't mind! It's cool enough to know that they like me and miss me when I'm not there. :D

Just catching up on your posts so I'm super late. Sorry!

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he's doing a lot better <3

So cool about the crows. They're fab birds when they're not being kind of scary XD
