A Recent Journey through YouTube

Last night, I was just cruising around on YouTube, at first listening to a mix of autotune awesomeness and nonsense. Mostly, cats on autotune. Why? I don't really know ahaha, but all the same that stuff's neat to listen to.
Example!
From there I listened to some of the more hilarious autotuned songs I heard before on Schmoyoho and theparodyfactory1 channels. (Two of my favorites by parodyfactory1 include "Do Dogs Have Brains?" and "Thumbs Up For Rock and Roll". Two of my favorites from Schmoyoho (AKA The Gregory Brothers) include "Reality Hits You Hard Bro" and "Tornado Song". I find them all rather fun and amusing to listen to.)
Then, I happened to discover a couple of funny songs about Auto-Correct. This one's the better of the two, LOL:
Then later on down the line, on a random whim, I decided to check out a video done by this amazing beat-boxer from Japan who goes by Hikakin.
I jaw dropped around the time he did that speed up part.
His friend Daichi is incredible too!
So I wound up listening to these guys do their crazy beat-boxin' skillz separately and together for a while. Another really amazing beatboxer who does dubstep amazingly well (and is a mad harmonica player), Dave Crowe! Be sure to look him up too, if you want!
I was definitely on an epic musical journey--but wait. It didn't stop there!
These amazing, unique instruments these guys are playing are known as handpans, or hang drums... or space drums. I could listen to this for a good long while and not tire of it.
There are some various types of handpans. Some both look and sound so pretty, such as this one right here:
I imagine these are very expensive. I'd have a lot of fun jamming on a handpan, if I ever get super lucky to purchase one!

Date: 2015-05-14 12:35 am (UTC)Oh man, when I was down in New Orleans, there was a guy playing a hang drum on the streets. I stayed there and listened to him for a good 10-15 minutes. Absolutely enchanting. The instrument sounds so unique and haunting. He didn't have any CDs for sale, otherwise I'd have bought one ...
